Position Summary

Full Time Teaching Position in the Health Care Management program in the Department of Health Professions at Metropolitan State University of Denver. The appointment is for one year, with the possibility of renewal. This position entails working closely with the Department Chair and colleagues in the Health Care Management program. The successful candidate will advise, as well as develop, teach, and maintain online, hybrid, and traditional undergraduate course offerings in the areas of:
o Healthcare Systems;
o Principles of Healthcare Management;
o Public Health Survey;
o Epidemiology;
o Environmental Health; and
o Health Disparities.
for a total of 15 credit hours per semester.

Duties/Responsibilities

Teaching
• Instruct undergraduate courses, leveraging field experiences in
o Healthcare Systems;
o Principles of Healthcare Management;
o Public Health;
o Epidemiology;
o Environmental Health; and
o Health Disparities.
• Advising undergraduate students in course planning and career strategies in the health care management and health informatics field.

The successful candidate will have the ability to work with historically underrepresented students, including students of color, and be committed to assisting the University, at the Department level, in its endeavor to become a Hispanic Serving Institution.

Required Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Public Health, Health Administration, Health Services, Health Sciences, Health Policy, Health Systems or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

1) Terminal degree in one of the following fields: Public Health, Health Administration, Health Services, Health Sciences, Health Policy, or Health Systems.
2) Minimum of two (2) years prior experience teaching undergraduate students in healthcare management and public health;
3) Additional graduate training and experience working in community preventive health programs;
4) Prior experience instructing culturally diverse student populations in fields of public health, epidemiology, environmental health, healthcare systems, principles of healthcare management, and health disparities;
5) Prior experience developing and teaching courses using the Blackboard Learn learning management system;
6) Prior industry experience working in community health program assessment; and
7) Experience developing and implementing community health assessment data collection instruments.
