Position Summary

This position will collaborate with University employees, managers, and leadership to provide a full range of talent management functions to include job description development, compensation, recruitment strategies, hiring processes, onboarding functions, and retention efforts. Position will collaborate with hiring managers and departments on effective ways to hire talent and effectively post positions to optimize candidate pools. Position will have responsibility for the full range of the Talent Management process, but may have emphasis in any of the following areas – job description development, compensation, recruitment, screening processes and collaborating with search committees, process/procedure development, state classified job evaluation and hiring, onboarding and/or reporting/retention efforts.

20% – Position Management – Work with departments on development of job descriptions and determining qualifications. This includes reviewing required qualifications and preferred qualifications to ensure they match the position and helping hiring managers to create compelling job descriptions to attract desired candidate pools. Review positions for FLSA designation. Facilitate applicant-tracking system by granting user access, training customers, managing workflow functions, and creating reports as necessary.
20% – Recruitment – Develop and execute effective recruiting strategies to include advertising, job fairs, social media, networking and other potential options to obtain top talent. Work with departments to develop recruitment plans for vacant positions and identify best methods to get the optimal pool of candidates. Identify ways to increase diversity of applicant pools by identifying the best sources to engage diverse applicants.
20% – Hiring – Manage hiring processes to include developing announcements, meeting with search committees, answering questions of applicants and committee members, reviewing selection criteria and interview questions, coordinating background an credential verification process, confirming final hires, notifying candidates of hiring results, and reviewing search processes for fairness and consistency. Facilitate applicant and hiring processes through the applicant tracking system.
20% – Compensation – Coordinate MSU Denver compensation practices and processes. Calculate hiring ranges for positions and salary recommendations for new hires based on appointment/position parameters. Advise and coordinate with administration and management in interpretation of job classifications and the application of compensation and appropriate pay levels for positions. Calculate salaries for reclassifications, reassignments, and promotions. Coordinate annual salary process for all continuing Administrator staff and oversee the annual compensation notification process.
5% – Onboarding – Administer onboarding functions to initiate new hire employment processes. Create offer letters, initiate background checks, coordinate attendance at new employee orientation, verify completion of new hire paperwork and administer new hire functions.
10% – Retention and Reporting – Prepare and maintain utilization data, statistical analyses, reports and other HR related data. Maintain the compensation spreadsheet for Administrators, Faculty, and staff. Maintain library of organizational charts for all departments at the university. Conduct data research for various reports and projects as needed. Collaborate or develop various reports to help with required University reporting such as IPEDS, EO data for the Affirmation Action reporting, and CUPA Salary Survey.
5% – Other – Participate in HR department projects and development activities. This could include projects that might increasing technical HR proficiency, customer service, process improvement, and team collaboration. Position will perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Previous experience in a Human Resources department performing talent management functions.
• Previous experience managing multiple projects, priorities and time sensitive deadlines, while maintaining strict confidentiality.
• Previous experience collaborating with employees and management to find effective solutions to Human Resources questions and issues.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, human resources or a related field.
• Experience working in a Human Resources office in Higher Education.
• Experience analyzing and evaluating job content and writing effective job descriptions.
• Previous experience recruiting and managing hiring functions.
• Previous experience administering compensation processes.
• Experience with social media tools for candidate outreach and recruiting.
• Experience using an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) to manage positions and hiring processes.
• Previous experience utilizing Banner or related HRIS system.
• Previous experience with conducting new hire orientations and other employment related trainings.
• Experience or ability to gather or analyze statistical data and generate reports.
• Certification in Job Evaluation, Selection or Personal Service Contracts with the State of Colorado.
